Welcome to China Travel Guide!
Shanghai was fabulous! A lot of people think it’s artificial and its not real China but that didn’t bother me! It’s a modern city and yet maintains the buzz that characterizes Asian cities.
I was staying at the Radisson Hotel on the famous Nanjing road. The road is always packed and bustling with activity. After Eastern Europe, this was another place where I felt like a foreigner. I was the favourite target of all roadside sellers. The top three products / services are fake Omega watches, porn videos and peep shows. Surprisingly, I wasn’t interested in any of them. I was completely lost in Shanghai’s beauty. For a few moments, the old colonial architecture had me fooled that I’m back in Europe. However, the people and the food reminded me that I’m very much in Asia.
My top 4 recommendations in Shanghai:
1) The Bund – Now that’s obvious! Imagine being in Shanghai and not going to the Bund – not possible! Its good to see it at night as well as day time
2) Yu gardens – Highly recommended!
TV tower
3) Cloud 9 bar at Grand Hyatt – For a superb view of the city at night
4) Xin Tiandi – The happening night spot with lots of good bars and clubs. We also found a nice massage place!
I don’t have many photos as of now! I’ll stalk others for more photos. Until then, enjoy the few I have!
